FAQ
Questions about screenshot translation
Clear answers about how Screen Translate works, what data is processed, and how credits are counted.
How does Screen Translate work?
Click the extension, select a visible area in Chrome, and submit it for OCR and translation. The extension shows the detected text and translated result in a panel on the page.
Is Screen Translate free?
New users receive 20 free screenshot translation credits after sign-in. After the free credits are used, users can buy additional credit packs.
What counts as one translation?
One successful screenshot translation request uses one credit. If OCR or translation fails, the request does not consume a credit.
Which languages are supported?
The product is designed to support common target languages such as English, Chinese, Japanese, Korean, French, German, and Spanish. The final launch list will be shown in the extension.
Does it work on images, videos, PDFs, and protected pages?
It works on visible areas that Chrome allows the extension to capture. Some restricted pages, browser system pages, protected content, or DRM video frames may not be capturable.
Is my screenshot stored?
The intended default is to process selected screenshots only to provide OCR and translation, not to store screenshots long-term. Operational logs may be retained for security, debugging, abuse prevention, and billing integrity.
Do you use screenshots to train AI models?
No. The intended policy is not to sell user content or use selected screenshots for advertising profiles. Third-party model processing is used only to provide the OCR and translation service.
Which AI model is used?
Screen Translate is planned to use Qwen-based OCR and translation through a backend service. Users do not need to provide their own model API keys.
I paid but credits did not arrive. What should I do?
Contact support with the order email, order ID, and account email. If payment succeeded but credits were not delivered, we will either add the credits or issue a refund when appropriate.
Can I use it in Mainland China?
The website and backend are planned for international access. Availability in Mainland China can vary by network conditions, hosting region, and payment provider access.
